The Thrill and Wonder of Nature: A bird sighting

I feel like a little kid when I’m in nature.

Varied Thrush on Mt. Tam, March 9, 2011

I’m constantly amazed at the splendor and wonder.  Conversations are interrupted as we walk because we don’t want to miss sharing a marvel.

Ever since I saw my first Varied Thrush, I’ve been on the lookout for this cutie for almost 6 years.

Robins are common and, every time I see one, I look closely just in case.  The other day I finally was rewarded and saw the Varied Thrush.   When I excitedly told my buddy about my sighting, he pulled out his Sibley Guide and the Varied Thrush was featured on both the back and front of his book.

Here’s a photo – remember – birds don’t pose for us amateur photographers.  Don’t click to enlarge – this is as good as it gets.
